Talula's Garden was a treat for all the senses

From the light rain cascading down as we entered the enchanted garden to the Dark Chocolate Cremeaux dessert, the not so new now Stephen Starr hotspot is a must.
At first, I was a little bummed that we couldn’t sit outside but, it was actually quite nice walking in and out of the water covered garden that flickered with tiny white lights.
We started our culinary journey with the mandatory cheese plate and chose The LocavoreWhile the cheese monger (what our waitress called him) prepared our plate; we sipped on cocktails mine being the Fragrant Mint Mojito…good, not great.
The cheese plate arrived and we dove in
For apps, we ordered the Braised Rabbit, Handkerchief Pasta, Pecorino, Green Olives, and Fava Beans
and the Parfait of Hudson Foie Gras, Cherries, Apricot Sauce, Sea Salt, and Brioche.
Both were tasty and we could have all stopped right there and then but of course, we didn’t.
For my entrée, I went with the Spiced Lamb Shoulder, Fresh Milled Polenta, Mace-Scented Thumbalina Carrots, and Yogurt
while others ordered the Muscovy Duck Breast and Foie Gras, Confit Leg Parcel, Beet Greens, and Smoked Beets as well as the Caramelized Maine Sea Scallops, Kohlrabi Puree, Pine Nut Milk, Lemon, Lovage, and Watercress.
As a side for the table, we ordered the Summer Succotash with Double Smoked Bacon and Jalapeno but I personally thought that it was bland with hints of course pepper sprinkled in.
Although by now we had all agreed that we were all fat and happy, we also agreed that there is always room for dessert. Not just one but two cause they sounded too good to pass up; the Dark Chocolate Cremeaux, a Smokey Chocolate Crumble, Marshmallow, and Bacon…yes, Bacon and the Petite Cookie Collection, Carrot Cake Whoopie Cookie, Chocolate-Caramel Sea Salt Bars, Almond Boterkoek, Vanilla Crescents.
Honestly, at this point I was way too full to take pictures so you are just gonna have to trust me when I say, Yum Yum Yum and go go go!
Why did I wait till lunch to write this? Gotta go, I’m starved!

  1. Great review! Thanks! My question is, would you go again for the food and not for the ambiance? Meaning was it worth it in your opinion? And how would you rank it in your list of favorite restaurant?

  2. If not for the ambiance, I would go back 4 the cheese, dessert and wine and maybe the lamb but... that would make me happy no matter where I am and since I'm all about the atmosphere which TG has, I'm definitely going back!
    You gonna try it?

  3. After your review, I think we have to! :-)

When? Not sure yet. Need to go to Tinto and Chifa! :-)

Would love to hear from you!
