Happy International Womens Day!

As a kid, I remember this day as one when my dad would buy flowers for me, my mom and grandmas and I always felt special probably, because no one else seemed to be celebrating it. Now, International Women's Day (IWD) has been embraced by the world and is marked on the 8th of March every year becoming a major day of global celebration of women.
With Valentine’s Day, Mothers Day and the love we receive on a daily basis from our husbands and kids this is yet another day to feel appreciated and who doesn’t want that right ladies? I have to admit thought that Phil who is American has not fully adapted to this holiday and so I’m using the power of the internet and my Blogger cachet to hint at the importance of this very special and all-important holiday (-:
Celebrations really do range from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political and social achievements. Makes sense then that it started as a Socialist political event and then became a holiday that blended in the culture of many countries, primarily Eastern Europe, Russia, and the former Soviet block.

Since then I think the day has lost its political flavor and became simply an occasion for men to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother's Day and Valentine’s Day.
So guys, if you’re reading this, buy flowers or… big fat stud earrings (inside joke).
Trust me, you won’t be disappointed with what follows, right ladies?!!

Happy International Women’s Day to All especially to my incredible Mama and Baba Alla, I love you!
