Mother's Day is
right around the corner and we all know what that means!?
Men everywhere will be stressing over what to get their wives, mothers, mother-in-laws, sisters, etc. etc. to express their Love and Appreciation for all the Awesome Stuff that they do!
Since I have the means of communicating what I want without actually telling my wonderful husband what I want for Mother's Day, here I go!
Just in time for Summer, adult sippy cups that hold wine without spilling it...again, why didn't I think of this?
Vino2Go tumblers are BPA-free, clear and shaped like a wine glass on the inside...Yeah!!!
A bottle of great Chardonnay and these and I'm putty in your hands (-;

The Portugal spreadsheet is
growing and unfortunately, so is my suitcase!!!
This time next week we will be arriving into Lisbon or, as the Portuguese call it, Lisboa and I can't wait to take in this magical city...
A bit about our first stop as we embark on a 2 week odyssey of Portugal...
Lisbon is the capital and largest city of Portugal with the urban area extending beyond the city limits and a a population of over 3 million making it the 11th most populous urban area in the European Union.
Not only is Lisbon the westernmost largest city in Europe, it is also its westernmost capital and the only one along the Atlantic coast...it lies in the western Iberian Peninsula on the Atlantic Ocean and the River Tagus (Tejo).
Recognized as a global city because of its importance in finance, commerce, media, entertainment, arts, international trade, education, and tourism, Lisbon is one of the major economic centers on the continent, with a growing financial sector and the second largest container port on Europe's Atlantic coast.
The city is the 7th most-visited in Southern Europe, after Istanbul, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, Athens and Milan and I'm happy to say that I've been to 4 and, after this trip, 5 of them!
Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world, and the oldest city in Western Europe, predating other modern European capitals such as London, Paris and Rome by hundreds of years. Julius Caesar made it a municipium called Felicitas Julia, adding to the name Olissipo. Ruled by a series of Germanic tribes from the fifth century, it was captured by the Moors in the eighth century. In 1147, the Crusaders under Afonso Henriques reconquered the city and since then it has been a major political, economic, and cultural center of Portugal.
Once the center of the richest empire in Europe, Lisbon now faces one of the worst financial crises in the EU. But even as it struggles with rising debt and unemployment, it is the home to two sites listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site: Belém Tower...
and Jerónimos Monastery...
that I'm hoping we get to visit on this trip. Furthermore, in 1994, Lisbon was the European Capital of Culture and in 1998 organised an Expo '98 (1998 Lisbon World Exposition).

Ahhh, I feel faint just thinking about all the fun times we're going to have...must rest!

Aside from it's beauty, Lisbon enjoys a Mediterranean climate with warm winters and hot summers and although it won't be beach weather while we're there, temps will be in the 70's making it ideal for sightseeing...

I Think I've Figured It Out
The Spinning Obsession that is...
I've been wracking my brain trying to get to the bottom of the how's and why's of this craze and perched atop my bike at 8:30am on a Monday morning it occurred to me!
I'm in a dark steamy room, wearing little to no clothes, rap music is blaring and I'm sweating my ass off...feels like I'm in an awesome club somewhere in the South of France!
Not sure what your experience of nightlife has been as of late but as much as I love dancing, mine has sucked. Mostly, because I refuse to wait in line -although we ladies rarely have to succumb to this- but still, the line to get into most clubs looks like a serpentine of Spanx and hair gel. Once in, most places have little to no place to lounge and so you're forced to stand balancing your cocktail hoping no one bumps into you! Finally and I say this with a heavy heart, most of the people in the clubs are kids and when I see kids I feel like an old fogie...certainly not how I want to feel especially at the ripe young age of +40!
And finally, and for me most importantly, when I leave a club, I feel old, tired and ready to crawl under covers right after I call my plastic surgeon and schedule a round of Botox.
When I leave a spin class however, I feel strong, powerful and ready to take on the world!
So there it is my friends...that aphrodisiac awesome feeling you get when you're in a club, you've let go of all your inhibitions, your eyes are closed and you don't really care who is watching or why cause you're living in your own little world wrapped up in whatever beat that's blasting around you.
That's where you want to be.
That's when you feel most powerful.
That's how you know you can accomplish anything even, squeeze into your tightest skinny jeans, your hottest little top and rock your body better than any kid muffin-topping her way through a club with a drink in her hand.
That's what Spinning is all about!
Sadly, all that's missing for me in all this is a cocktail but, there is a solution!
